Walton Art Club

Are you interested in art but never seem to find the time? Would you love to paint or draw but not sure how to go about it? Come along, join in with like minded people, you’ll be more than welcome.

The club was founded in 1960. It’s aim to enable people to enjoy art in a friendly and sociable atmosphere on a weekly basis.

At Walton Art Club we aim to help people to enjoy art in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

There is no vetting so anyone can join as long as they have an interest in art.

Walton Art Club meet every Wednesday evening during school term times from the beginning of September through to the end of June each year.

The evenings start at 7pm and run until 9.30pm.

Whether you are interested in oils, acrylics, watercolours, pen or pencils, why not come along and give it a try. There is a wide range of skills and mediums used by our members, and there is always someone on hand to give help and advice. We are sure that you will enjoy the evenings and come back for more. And, who knows, you may be one of the lucky ones to sell a painting at one of our Exhibitions.

Our Activities

Watch the artist in action - interact with them, ask questions, learn new media, methods and tips.

On the first Wednesday of most months we invite a guest artist to give a demonstration.

This evening is open to both members and the general public, so spread the word and bring a friend! £4, to include refreshments. All welcome.

We hold two exhibitions a year, so members can display their work in an art gallery, where the public can purchase or just enjoy seeing original and unique pieces of art from local artists.

This event is free of charge and open to all. it is normally held at the end of May and the end of November each year. Please see the Riverhouse Barn events page for further details.

We also hold workshops, auctions and critique evenings.

Workshops are normally held during the school holidays and are during the day at different various locations.

There is normally the regular raffle, an auction and some of our guest artists auction off their work after a demonstration.

On top of all this, we have an annual club Christmas meetup where we attempt a quiz or two, contribute and particpate in raffles/auctions and enjoy some food and a celebrate with a drink.
